Awards season kicked off with a bang yesterday with the 2013 Golden Globes taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The ceremony, hosted by Saturday Night Live Alumni Amy Poehler and Tina Fey saw Adele pick up the gong in the Best Song Category for her song Skyfall but the most important thing was what the men were wearing.
Orlando Bloom seen here with his wife and Victoria Secrets model Miranda Kerr, who is attending the awards for no other reason than that the Hobbit is putting him into the limelight again. While what he lacks in actual career he makes up for in the style stakes with a modern take on a tuxedo, ditching the stripe on the side of the trousers but keeping the sheen on the lapels.
Daniel Craig attended the ceremony to support his wife Rachel Weisz who was nominated for her role in The Deep Blue Sea. While at first site Daniel appears to be wearing a more formal tuxedo, he’s in fact mixing it up a little bit by having the tuxedo in midnight blue but creating a contrast by having the the stripes on the side of the trousers and the lapels black. While mixing black with navy was once a stone fast rule in fashion but is now acceptable.
The we turn to Twilight Heartthrob who obviously mis-read his event invitation and thought he was going to a high-school prom in this bog standard tuxedo, but then that’s the problem with men’s formal wear. There’s only so much wiggle room.
