What’s Hot and What’s Not – UCC Exams edition

It’s exam season down in UCC and while many of the wasters in Dubblinland maybe finished us Corkonians are still working like madmen until the end of May, we started at the beginning yano. While the college may have changed essentially they’re still the same stress-fun-filled time, you can compare and contrast with last years exam what’s hot and not !

What’s Not – UCC’s Exam Halls

UCD and Trinnerz have it easy. Make it to the RDS and try not to speak to the riff raff. However in UCC finding your exam hall is like finding the Chamber of Secrets. You could be in the Mardyke, Or the Student Centre, or Aras An Laoi, or Kampus Kitchen, or Neptune. Which I’ve never heard of but I’m sure UCC are wasting their budget on Virgin Space Flights to the god forsaken planet.

What’s Hot – Relieving Exam Stress in TK Maxx

Bored of exams ? Feeling stressed ? Then head down to TK Maxx and find the tackiest thing there and try it on. Above I’m modelling a pair of leopard print-steel tipped shoes, note the look of confusion on my face.

What’s Not – Paperchase Pens

 

Paperchase, it’s cool yeah ? Getting those nice quirky pens and pretending you’re Zooey Daeschanel ? Well guess what they’re shit to write with but since I need my notes to be colour coded I have no choice but to use it. Woah. Is. Me

What’s Hot – Energy Drink Stocks

In school we had a teacher who’d always give us stock tips, but it turned out she just read them off the Sunday Business Post every week, probably didn’t even buy it, but here I am offering you some sound financial advice. Buy stock in Red Bull. Then sell when the leaving cert is over. Cause god knows they do 90% of their business during exams.

What’s Not – The Boole Library

Having been in the Boole Library since September I have seen it’s progression from a quiet and orderly place to a lost dystopian world where everyone fends for themselves, so what if you’ve only left your desk  to use the bathroom. It’s gone now ! Strolling up to the shelf to get a book? Well someone’s ran past you and got it. Well that was me actually. However the one sure sign is that it’s gone too far is that someone stole my pen, not even my nice one.

 So I hoped you liked the what’s hot and what’s not of UCC, perhaps it was an eye-opener for some people and maybe offer new ways to procrastinate for others. Who’d a thunk it. After a grueling 5 weeks of voting and over 100 votes cast the people have chosen Niall Horan as the most stylish directioner.

While he may have blind sided many of us I for one have always had faith in the little guy who could from mullingar.

Zayn Malik Style Guide

The penultimate style guide is here ! I bring you the bad boy of the group, Zayn Malik.

Zayn Malik the token member of the group in so many ways, but while he isn’t singing the harmony in One Direction he’s busy being the poster child for River Island.

To achieve the Zayn look make sure your jeans are baggy and slung low, try the Worker type jeans in Topman and you can’t go wrong if you throw in an arch leg or a twisted pair here and there. What Zayn seems to love most is buttoned up shirts and the one above with Aztec patterned pocket seems to be right up his street.

Zayn is a fan of Trainers but unlike Niall Horan, his don’t reach the skies. Opt for a more conservative type of hi-top like the pair of Nike ones from above !

Oh Liam. What happened to you? Liam has been the longest in showbiz having been rejected from X-Factor in 2008 he came back in 2010, fresh faced and with a pretty damn good hair cut but the x-factor stylists (yes you Grace Woodward)  ruined it and it’s all gone down hill from there.

Much like his ever changing hair style Liam has no set sense of style. He’s comfortable in Timberlands and worker jeans as well as a full 3 piece suit but what he seems to pop up most in are chequered shirts, light-wash slim fit jeans and white converse.

To pull off the ‘Liam’ just make sure that you’re clean cut and presented well and to perfect those puppy dog eyes !

Louis Tomlinson Style Profile

First of all a big thank you to all the people who’ve voted in my Most Style One Direction Poll! At the moment Niall Horan is winning with 36% of the votes but if you feel your favourite has been cheated make sure to share the post and get your friends voting !

For this post we’ll be examining Louis Tomlinson’s style. He’s perhaps the easiest to mimic because he’s so consistent in his clothes. You can always guarantee bare ankles showing as I’ve detailed before in another post. Louis always has brightly coloured rolled up jeans or chinos paired with what seems to be his favourite shoes Espadrilles (es-pah-drills) or better known as Toms. While they cost €40/£33 in Schuh there’s some fantastic knock offs in Penneys at the moment for €6 but if you thought converse was bad in wet weather I can’t imagine how these would fair.

The main ethos for Louis is to have bright primary colours, much like a cartoon character, and to have fun with your clothes as well like adding a fun print or suspenders.
